ISKL offers a robust international curriculum which combines leading North American educational frameworks with global best practice.  The curriculum recognizes that students are on a lifelong learning journey and is driven by ISKL’s mission to challenge each student to “Be All You Are” and develop the attitudes, skills, knowledge, and understanding to become a highly successful, spirited, socially responsible global citizen.

ISKL is an IB World School and has been authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to provide the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) since 1989. In addition to the full IBDP, students also have the option of combining individual IB, Advanced Placement and High School Diploma courses to create a customized program tailored to their abilities, interests, and aspirations. The flexibility of ISKL’s academic program creates global opportunities; the graduating class of 2019 received more than 400 acceptances from over 200 universities in 14 countries spanning four continents.

ISKL is also accredited internationally through the Council of International Schools (CIS), and in the United States through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). ISKL has a strong focus on service and sustainability across its divisions and is a member of  the Eco-Schools organization and the Green Schools Alliance.

Elementary School

The elementary curriculum is standards-based, delivered through best instructional practices using research-based resources. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Specialists provide instruction in Visual Arts, Music, and Physical Education. Spanish and Chinese are introduced in Prep Senior with students receiving instruction in one of these languages every other day. Information Literacy, Health, Service Learning and Sustainability Education are integrated throughout the curriculum.

Students have access to an extensive Library collection, a range of Technology Devices, Science Labs and a Maker Space.

Middle School

The Middle School program is designed to provide quality academic and social experiences in a supportive environment. There are a variety of courses for all students, including required courses, year-long electives, required trimester courses (or wheel courses) and trimester electives. . The year-long required courses at all grade levels are Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Physical Education and World Languages. Year-long elective courses include Band, Choir, Strings or Yearbook.

With this mix of required and elective choices, students in the Middle School get a well-rounded educational experience which prepares them for success as they move to High School.

High School

The ISKL High School program maximizes student’s cognitive abilities through engagement and perseverance in challenging learning experiences. It emphasizes the development of critical thinking, application of sound research techniques, the use of knowledge in new situations and exposure to a variety of perspectives. All students are required to take a core curriculum based on the five major academic areas of English, mathematics, science, social studies and foreign language. This core curriculum is enhanced by a variety of elective courses  (up to 110 courses) in fine arts, applied arts, technology and physical education.

ISKL consistently outperforms regional and worldwide averages for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) , Advanced Placement (AP) and school-wide standardized testing measures.
